The Effect of Life-stress on Hwa-byung: Focusing on the Mediating Effect of Individual Psychological Flexibility and the Moderated Mediating Effect of Family Strengths

Abstract
Objectives: The purpose of this research is to identify the mediating effect of individual psychological flexibility and the moderated mediating effect of family strengths on middle-aged married women on the path to hwa-byung.

Methods: Data analysis was conducted using SPSS 25 and SPSS PROCESS Macro 3.3 to verify the mediating effect, moderated effect, and the moderated mediating effect.

Results: Results of this study indicate a mediating effect of psychological flexibility confirmed in the path where life-stress affects hwa-byung, as well as a moderating effect of family strengths in the path where psychological flexibility affects hwa-byung. Finally, it was confirmed that the degree to which life-stress affects hwa-byung through psychological flexibility varies depending on the level of family strengths.

Conclusion: Based on these results, this study attempted to seek a more integrated and systematic direction of counseling intervention by recognizing the relationship between life-stress, psychological flexibility, and family strengths in conducting psychological intervention in middle-aged married women¡¯s hwa-byung.
